Today we take a close look at the very interesting A hirajoshi scale. We can think of this one as a japanese variation of the more common pentatonic scale, adapted from shamisen music for tuning of the koto. There are only 5 notes in this scale - a minor triad (A,C and E), a major second (B) and a minor sixth (F). These added intervals sound a bit more interesting than the perfect fourth and minor seventh of the pentatonic scale and I'm sure you will find some great applications for it! Full vid
